In the bottom of the 11th inning in Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS against the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees third baseman Aaron Boone crushed the game-winning home run into the left field stands. Boone joined the Yankees in the middle of the 2003 season and contributed six home runs and 31 RBI, but it was his solo homer off Tim Wakefield that will forever render him a New York hero.
