A.J. Pierzynski joined the Chicago White Sox as their catcher in 2005, after six seasons with the Twins and one year with the Giants, and his timing couldn"t have been better. The Sox" pitching staff was coming into its own and Pierzynski did a masterful job of calling pitches and saying the right thing at the right time to the likes of Orlando Hernandez, Mark Buehrle and Freddy Garcia during the regular season, the playoffs and the World Series, in which the Sox beat the Astros with a 4-0 sweep.
